2 More iPhone applications done

I've finished two more iPhone Applications. I'm kind of getting into the groove of iPhone application development now. Links to the support page for each app are posted on the right side of the blog.

I'm kind of having a hard time coming up with ideas for apps. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them. My latest idea is an aquarium log book.

New cat in the house

This past Saturday we adopted a new cat. It's another siamese. Her name is Mia and she's about 2 years old. She was either abused or hit by a car and lost half of her tail. She also has a funky eye thing but the Vet from Forgotten 4 Paws say it's OK and she can see fine. It will just be watery.

So far, her and Missy and not getting along. Well, I should say Missy is freak'd out but Mia is just fine. She's very friendly and inquisitive. Perhaps by the end of the week they can come to an understanding......

We've got a few pictures of Mia here.

My first iPhone app has been released!

Finally, after a pretty long wait for approval and listing, my first iPhone/iPod Touch application has been posted to the iTunes Music Store. It's called Narc Convert. It's a port of a Palm application I wrote. The support page is here. The iTunes Music store link is here.

The only thing that irks me is the OS version number is wrong. It will run on iPhone OS 2.0. It does not require the 2.1 upgrade. I'm not really sure why it comes up that way. I didn't put that requirement in there.

Spaz the cat. RIP August 1989 - October 2008

It's very sad, but Spaz has died. We had to make an emergency vet run this morning about 12:30 AM to euthanize him. He finally was too weak to stand and was not comfortable. All in all, it's a good thing. It was his time to go. We'll miss him. You can view pictures of spaz here.

Overall, this weekend kind of sucked. Spaz died as did one of my fish (the Yellow Tang). The "burial at sea" for the fish resulted in a clogged toilette...... Still trying to fix that without dismantling the toilette. Also, the Blue and White G3 that I use to host spazjunior.com and my internal DNS/Proxy is acting like it wants to die. For some reason I'm getting a kernel panic about every 15 mintes. It was fine on Friday and nothing has changed so, I'm guessing something on the main board is going bad. Or maybe one of the disks?

Google Apps is kind of pissing me off.

Well, as much as I like Google and appreciate the free hosting and email they are providing for domain, they have issues.

For some reason, I can't have Google web pages enabled for my domain and use a custom Blogger address. No matter what I do, www.spazthecat.com always ends up getting directed to my Google Pages site. It's really irksome. I've completely disabled Google Pages but things still aren't squared away. I'm not quite sure how to fix it but there are all kinds of posts about this issue on the Google Apps news group. Doesn't seem like Google is listening very well......

The old SpazTheCat.com is now fully switched over.

I finally got the old SpazTheCat.com website migrated over to my own server. The new site is Spazjunior.com.

It's running on an old B&W G3 in my basement for now. I got tired of paying a hosting provider for such a low volume site.

Cisco VPN client won't load on Leopard

Well, after applying the latest Security update from Apple, the Cisco VPN client won't load. It is "unable to communicate with the VPN subsystem". After a little investigation, I believe the issue is not the security update but the kernel extensions used by VMWare Fusion. When I disable them, the Cisco client startups just fine.

To fix the issue, I did the following:

1. Startup the Terminal
2. sudo pico /System/Library/StartupItems/CiscoVPN/StartupParameters.plist
3. Remove the line that says "OrderPreference = "Late";

It seems that allowing the system to have full control over the load order fixes it. At least it did for me.
